Christa is a painter based in the midwest. She creates atmospheric, gestural abstract paintings. Her pieces are a physical representation of non physical experience, like thought pattern or meditation. Works can be seen as microscopic or cosmic in scale. Using thin layers of acrylic paint on canvas, washes of color and intuitive marks are made. The canvas is tipped and angled, allowing the water and pigments to interact and disperse. Solid forms disintegrate into formlessness and trail out in all directions mirroring the ephemeral nature of our present experience.
Her work explores the inexplicable participation with the present moment. She trades the known for the unknown in an artistic process where instinct informs action. A force greater than herself awaits constant collaboration in revealing connective patterns. She becomes a conductive medium, resulting in catharsis and transcendence through physicality.
